“I took the plunge and kissed him and suggested maybe we could hang out just the two of us…”

I love a woman who can take the lead, and I love couples who are willing to follow each other wherever the other person’s path may lead. While Max+Jessica met in middle school, their paths didn’t cross again until after college, when the timing was just right.

From Jessica, “When I moved back to LA after a stint back east, I started spending a lot of time with an old friend from summer camp, Thomas. Thomas happened to be one of Max’s best friends, and so we got reacquainted. We spent the next few months exchanging glances across Thomas’ patio table. Finally, one evening, I took the plunge and kissed him and suggested maybe we could hang out just the two of us. Forgoing the cool guy act, Max called the next day and wanted to pick me up from my volunteer job at the hospital for our first date. While I put him off until I could change out of my scrubs, we went to a late night coffee shop that night, to dinner and a movie two nights later, and a beautiful date at the Getty Museum that next weekend, and the rest is history.”

As avid scuba divers, incorporating the beach into Jessica+Max’s engagement session was a must, and who can complain about a beautiful, flowery path, leading up to it?

Max+Jessica’s proposal story is pretty much straight out of a fairy-tale!

“I had been traveling all summer doing externships for school. I’d spent 6 weeks in Los Angeles working while Max was back home in VT. My last day of work was Friday, and that day my sister ‘happened’ to come in to town. I had wanted to spend saturday in my sweats relaxing, but my mother and sister convinced me to put on a cute outfit, do my hair, and get a manicure with them. We were sitting in my kitchen when the doorbell rang, and my mom, sister and dad all pretty much yelled for me to answer the door. I went to the door and there was Max! I was so surprised and excited to see him. Of course I considered that he might be there to propose, but I didn’t want to ruin the lovely surprise by expecting too much. He whisked me off and soon I realized we were headed to the Getty Museum. On a balcony, over the gardens, with a view of the city in which we met, he got down on one knee and proposed with a custom engagement ring! But that wasn’t it for the engagement surprises. We went out to brunch at our favorite spot, and then he brought me to a beautiful oceanfront hotel where we had champagne, and then a fancy dinner out. For the final surprise, the next morning he had organized an intimate engagement party with our families. The whole thing was magic.”
