Lisa & Michelle had their wedding at the Santa Barbara Courthouse. They celebrated their union with their daughter, Maddie, and Lisa’s parents, Bette Ann and Gary. Michelle and Lisa chose to commemorate their love on a very important day–May Day. Having worked for a housing coalition and as a community director for help clinics, and having met at a conference, it would only be befitting that these ladies join in marriage on International Worker’s Day, a day for social justice (to read more about it, click here).
My ‘job’ is made so much easier by couples who have fun together, and love to make each other smile 🙂
The brides with their beautiful daughter.
This was such a unique tree bark case for the wedding rings…
Michelle & Lisa were all smiles (and some tears) during their wedding ceremony.
Maddie served as an excellent ring-bearer!
Michelle wiped away Lisa’s tears of joy…
Then the brides exchanged rings…
Michelle then read the Velveteen Rabbit to Maddie…
After which Lisa gave Maddie a beautiful heart-shaped necklace…
Bette Ann and Gary then said a few words to the soon-to-be wives…
I found this moment to be very sweet and endearing…both couples held hands in the same exact way.
First Kiss as wives!
Such a precious moment between the mothers and their daughter!
The newlyweds!!

A photo of the rings and bouquet.
These two were all smiles!
After the ceremony, the brides and I headed back inside the Courthouse to grab a few more photos with the pretty architecture…
Lisa & Michelle could not keep their hands off each other!
One of the most common things I hear as a photographer is ‘I don’t like taking pictures’ or ‘I just don’t look good in photos’; to which I say–challenge accepted! Looking at these photos, I think it’s fair to say, both ladies look fantastic, natural, and SO in love.
Lisa & Michelle, congratulations! Loving someone is hard work, but you two make it look easy and flawless. I know you’re going to have a long, happy, fun and fulfilling life together!
A special thank you to the people who helped make Michelle & Lisa’s so great: Nanette with Ceremonies by Nanette (officiant) and bouquet by Kaleidoscope Flowers.
